Did you know that there are more than 200 street poems in Utrecht? Join us for a walk and learn more about Utrecht and poetry!
Utrecht is known for its abundant street poetry. What do these poems mean to the city’s residents? Documentary maker Suzanne van Leendert collected personal, funny, touching, and critical stories from Utrecht residents about poems on walls and other surfaces. The result is “Talking Stones” (2024), a beautiful film that not only provides a lovely picture of the many poems found in Utrecht’s public spaces but also showcases the amazing diversity of residents and personal stories in the city. The Department of Dutch Language and Culture at Utrecht University contributed to the documentary.
The documentary is in Dutch, with English subtitles. After the screening, there will be a Q&A with the maker, Suzanne and guides Gerben and Jannika.
The walk starts at 7:00 PM. The documentary screening starts at 8:30 PM, followed by the Q&A.
