Attention HU and UU students! Crash Courses is back, bigger and better than ever! Unleash your artistic side and pick one of six creative workshops to explore for one evening at Parnassos Cultural Centre on 13th September 2023.
Want to try a new hobby or develop your artistic skills under the guidance of an expert teacher? This is your chance! We start the evening at the Parnassos bar and break out into separate course groups after an inspiring kick-off. Afterwards, we’ll get back together so you can share your experiences and enjoy a drink at the bar with newly made friends. One free drink is included in the ticket price, so the first drink is on us.

There’s six different courses to choose from, pick your favourite below! All courses are entry-level courses, so no previous knowledge is required.
Singing Disney – CANCALED
If you love Disney and love singing together, this is the course for you! Our repertoire consists of great Disney classics, which we will sing in harmony. We will search together for the right sound and feel, but most of all we will focus on discovering the joy of singing together.
Spoken word
Spoken word is a performing art between poetry and performance, leaving reason behind and discovering your creativity. In this workshop you will learn to write spoken word pieces and to recite them.
Burlesque
You might know the wonderful performing art burlesque from the Moulin Rouge in Paris. Burlesque is often an exaggeration of an expression, like shyness, clumsiness or feeling incredibly sexy. Charlotte’s Burlesque classes are tasteful and humorous and are held in a safe environment where you are free to develop your own skills.
Drawing like Lichtenstein
Always wanted to learn how to paint like the iconic pop art painters of the 60’s? During the crash course Drawing like Lichtenstein you will learn the ins and outs of his techniques and pop art. You will have time to practice with the techniques and to create your own Lichtenstein.
Photo walking tour
During the photo walking tour you learn to photograph with a completely new perspective. We use the first half hour for theory and inspiration. Then we get to work with the practice and we all go outside together! We go out together to take pictures in the city of Utrecht. You only need your phone for this workshop!
Physical theatre – CANCELED
Do you love theatre and want to express yourself through your body rather than just your mind? Then this course is perfect for you. Our approach will involve the creation and enactment of theater through the use of physical space and the human body.
About Crash Courses
Crash Courses XL is produced by Parnassos Cultural Centre and Podium. During these events, we offer a variety of artistic courses that you can choose from. Whether you want to try something completely new, or want to rekindle an old hobby – during Crash Courses, you can you can immerse yourself in the wonderful world of the arts! We always start the evening with an exciting introductory kick-off, and share our experiences with a drink afterwards.
Practical information
Tickets
Tickets can only be purchased by UU or HU students – proof of registration is required when you buy a ticket. A ticket gives you the opportunity to join the event and have a free drink afterwards. The ticket link is in dutch. To purchase tickets, you sign up with a Parnassos account. You decide how many tickets you want to purchase and then you click: ‘naar betalen’. Student tarief (price) and normal tarief (price) is te same. Only students are allowed and therefore Proof of Enrolment or a studentcard needs to be shown when asked upon arrival at the Crash Courses.
Language
The primary language at this event will be English. All students are welcome!
Accessibility
Parnassos Cultural Centre is wheelchair accessible. Both an elevator and a wheelchair-friendly toilet are present. The building of Parnassos is a monumental building, so if you have any worries or needs that might prevent you from participating in this activity, let us know by sending a message to info.parnassos@uu.nl.
