Waacking is a club dance style that originated in the gay club scene of Los Angeles in the 1970s. The focus of this dance style is on expressiveness, poses, arm movements, musicality, and groove. In its early days, Waacking drew inspiration from Hollywood film stars such as Greta Garbo, Marlene Dietrich, and Marilyn Monroe.

About Waacking:
In this Waacking beginner class, we train our arms, dance not only in front of the mirror but especially with each other, and bring out our inner diva. If you love Disco/Funk/Soul music, this course is perfect for you!
Saskia Nartey-Wemegah is a dancer with a passion for improvisation and freestyle. She has fully developed herself in the club dance styles House Dance and Waacking/Whacking. These styles appeal to her because of their focus on improvisation, dancing together, discovering your own style, and the free expression within the dances. In her classes, there is space for awareness of personal movement patterns and emotions. Saskia also organizes events under the name Call & Response, where she brings musicians and dancers together.
