Entry requirements: Open to all. You will, however, be expected to complete a short story in about a month. If that feels like it’s outside your comfort level still, consider enrolling in Intro to creative writing instead. This course will be particularly well suited to those who have already taken that introductory course.
Learn how to write with depth and clarity, explore new ways of telling, and expand your toolkit. The first three weeks of this course are for writing exercises. You’ll learn how to set the stage, how to write dialogue, and how to abruptly change gear. You’ll then start working on a short story. The next three weeks are for writing in class. Both the teacher and your classmates will be available to read your work in progress and give feedback and critique. During our final session, we will discuss each others works.
Max Urai (1991) received the C.C.S. Crone stipend from the City of Utrecht in 2023. He is currently working on a science fiction novel about shopping malls for De Geus. For more information, check out www.maxurai.nl.

This course will be held every week on the same day and time. If a lesson is missed due to a public holiday or other reasons (e.g. teacher illness, organizational reasons), the lesson will be made up at the end of the course. Please note that a course may be extended by a few weeks due to this. You can read more about this in our terms and conditions.
