Entry requirements: This course is intended for students who have already taken the introductory Sci-fi and Fantasy writing course, or those who feel confident enough in their abilities to skip that one.
Delve deeper into the literature of the unreal. The first three weeks of this course are for writing exercises. You’ll write about gender systems, nonhuman consciousnesses, and the complicated feelings in a city during the coronation of an unloved king. You’ll then start working on a short story. The following three weeks are for writing in class. Both the teacher and your classmates will be available to read your work in progress and provide feedback and critique. During our final session, we will discuss each other’s work.
Max Urai (1991) received the C.C.S. Crone stipend from the City of Utrecht in 2023. He is currently working on a science fiction novel about shopping malls for De Geus. For more information, check out www.maxurai.nl.

This course will be held every week on the same day and time. If a lesson is missed due to a public holiday or other reasons (e.g. teacher illness, organizational reasons), the lesson will be made up at the end of the course. Please note that a course may be extended by a few weeks due to this. You can read more about this in our terms and conditions.
