Sci-fi & Fantasy writing advanced

Entry requirements: This course is intended for students who have already taken the introductory Sci-fi and Fantasy writing course. 

Now that you have scratched the surface, delve deeper into the literature of the unreal. Explore gender systems, nonhuman consciousnesses, and the complicated feelings in a city during the coronation of an unloved king. 

The structure for this course is identical to the first: three writing exercises, three weeks to work on your story, one concluding feedback session. 

What you will learn  

• How to explore complex themes like gender systems and nonhuman consciousness in fiction  

• How to develop layered characters with complicated emotions 

• How to structure and refine a short story through targeted writing exercises and feedback 

• How to thrill and engage readers 

NOTE: To ensure there is enough time for everyone, this course is capped at six students instead of eight. This also means the entry fee is slightly higher than the first course.
