Dancing is something everyone can do — but somehow, we often lose touch with that part of ourselves. Wouldn’t it be amazing to reconnect and experience the full range of what dance has to offer? That’s exactly what Dancemix is all about!
We’ll move through a mix of dance styles and give your personal “on” switch a proper push. What do you need? Just wear comfortable clothes you can move in — and most importantly, bring your enthusiasm!
In this course, dance instructor Sophia Maria Kienhuis energizes you every week and before you know it, dance will have a permanent place in your life. Participants praise the relaxed and inspiring atmosphere in her classes. It’s all about having fun, building something together, and feeling free in your movement—without pressure to perform or focus on technique.
Sophia Maria Kienhuis graduated in 2007 from the Academy of Theatre and Dance in Amsterdam and has since developed into a versatile performer and creator. She describes herself as a volcano of creative eruptions, ranging from dance and music to clothing and text, always driven by the question: “What moves us?” Alongside her work at Parnassos, Sophia Maria leads dance education projects in schools and gives workshops at festivals such as MadNes and Ruigoord. She has collaborated with artists including Spinvis, Gilian Baracs, Wordbites and Snowapple. She also performs as a singer and songwriter, both solo and with her band Flower of Hope. In recent years, she has further deepened her knowledge of pilates and nonviolent communication, which adds extra layers to her teaching. In her dance classes at Parnassos, she combines athletic energy, performative strength, expression and technique. This way, dancers are given the space to discover their strengths and explore where there is still room to grow.
