Looking for a moment of real focus to finally get some writing done? Join us on the first Friday of every month at the Parnassos Writing Café, held in our cosy bar.
Struggling to find time to work on your novel? Searching for inspiration, fellow writers or feedback? At the Writing Café, you can spend the entire afternoon writing with a cup of coffee by your side. One of our professional tutors will be there to help if you get stuck or to offer feedback on your text.
The Writing Café is a monthly afternoon where you can take the time to focus on your writing, whether you’re working on a book, poetry, essays, or study assignments. You’ll write alongside other writers, with guidance from one of our experienced tutors.
Our writing teacher Max Urai will be present during these afternoons to think along with you, give feedback, and answer all your writing questions. Think of it as a few hours in which you finally get to truly focus on writing: together, yet in your own way!
This is what the afternoon looks like:
– We start together at 14:00. After that, you decide how you want to work: find a quiet corner to focus, join others to exchange ideas, or stop by the teacher to discuss your plans.
– During the writing session, the teacher walks around the room. Want to brainstorm, untangle a sentence you’re stuck on, or find new inspiration? You’ll receive targeted questions and tips to help you move forward. Finished an assignment? You can immediately continue with a follow-up, or try something completely different.
– Halfway through, there’s a short break: a nice moment to catch your breath and, if you like, share what you’ve been working on.
– We close the afternoon together. Anyone who wants can read a short fragment to the group, informal and without pressure. Afterwards, the café remains open if you’d like to keep writing, chat, or simply enjoy a drink together.
Catering: The first round of coffee, tea, and cookies is provided. You are also welcome to bring your own drinks or use the coffee, tea, and soft drink machines in the hall (please note: during the day there is no bar staff present in the café).
Language: The teacher can give feedback on texts written in Dutch or English.
